From tyer James Baginski, who donated great flies to last year's auction as well: I've been bonefishing for over 20 years, often taking my vice along with me, modifying and designing patterns that bonefish seem to really like. All patterns included in this box were consumed by bonefish on my most recent bonefishing excursion to Central America earlier this year (and none were refused by feeding fish!), along with the two crab patterns that I convinced permit to eat. The bonefish flies are tied in a variety of sizes with sleek bodies, allowing for faster sink rates without being overly heavy (and thus easier to cast!). Box contains 24 flies--22 bonefish flies and 2 permit crabs. James Baginski is an associate teaching professor of Geography and Environmental Studies. He has been fly fishing for over 31 years, and tying flies for over 30 of them--once he started fly fishing and losing flies in trees at age 12, his parents forced him to take fly tying lessons to cut down on costs!
